COVID 19

Empower Hawaii has been at the forefront of serving the community during this world wide pandemic. As the corona virus spread, businesses and schools took action to slow the spread of the virus. Hawaii announced statewide stay at home and work at home mandates which quickly changed things economically for hundreds of thousands of families.

Empower Hawaii partnered with the Kroc Center in Kapolei to be a distributor of meals for the Elderly and needy in the community. There were many parters that made this possible - Dominos Hawaii, Meadow Gold, Waianae Store, Tamuras, and many others. We were able to successfully contact churches and leaders along the Leeward Coast to start surveying the community and seeing who was in need. The first delivery was on Monday March 30th and 1,554 meals were provided for families in need. The program has continued every Monday and Friday and provided more than 17,270 meals to families. Please contact the Salvation Army Kroc Center Hawaii if you would like more information.

Empower Hawaii also hosted weekly webinars with FREE information to the community. These webinars started on April 8th and hosted a representative of INPEACE, Ke Ola Mamo, the Salvation Army Kroc Center Hawaii, and Malama Meals. On April 15th, we were fortunate to have the chair of the Hawaii State Board of Education. On April 22nd, we hosted Hawaii USA Federal Credit Union, and April 29th was a Q&A from the Small Business Administration - Hawaii Division. Our last webinar was on May 6th with special guests from Aloha Harvest and Wa'ianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
